Jack Hargreaves "Out of Town" woodworking crafts

Postby robin wood » Thu Sep 16, 2010 12:09 am

Does anyone else remember Jack Hargreaves "Out of Town"? I loved these as a kid, watching a few now there are a few inaccuracies but there are also some gems.

This is a rakemaker, skip to 3 mins if you want to skip the chat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaolgMIK ... re=related

I love the bit where he squashes the rake tooth before banging it into the head to avoid splitting the head.
and part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiJPX2v_ ... re=related

In the coachbuilders we are told the spokes are ash and the felloes are oak but never mind it is lovely old low budget record of a remarkably mechanised wheelwrights. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7vvqv38 ... re=related

I am sure there must be plenty more nice old woodworking crafts amongst the out of town series and there seem to be plenty on youtube. If anyone finds more it would be nice if they could flag them up here.

Yes, great old chap, my wife bought me a few of his series on DVD a year ago.

I have 2 wood shows in a row so can not watch them now, glad to see he is also on Youtube

and this is a link to the very last out of town, made 13 years after the programme ended, this programme was aired coincidentally the night Jack died.
