Offensive Weapons Bill (HC Bill 232)

Do you want to be able to still buy an axe or spoon knife and get it delivered to your home address ? If so, you might want to take a careful look at Article 15 of this act, and consider bending the ear of your MP.

Article 16

Part 4)
It is a defence for a person charged with an offence under section 15 to prove that they reasonably believed that the buyer bought the bladed product for use for relevant sporting purposes or for the purposes of historical re-enactment.

“historical re-enactment” means a presentation or other event held for the purpose of re-enacting an event from the past or of illustrating conduct from a particular time or period in the past.

This is an interesting issue for tool makers.
However, the Bill does not seem to include to word "tool" or refer to tools in anyway.
Does this mean that if the object is a "tool" and not a "weapon", then the bill doesn't apply?
The delivery issue also only seems to apply to residential premises, so those of us who receive post at work are not affected?

Interesting topic indeed...

There's some discussion around whether goods can be picked up from "delivery places" rather than home addresses.
Click and collect - quite often the nearest Argos shop.
