Early mouseman piece

I remember there being a thread some time ago about Robert Thompson and the finishes they used, so I thought this might be interesting for some. This footstool came in last week, it is an early one, the fumed colour is great and the hand work is very well done. If anyone wants any details, just let me know.

Lovely piece. I like the sag in the seat - will you be taking that out when you repair the broken straps?

No the customer wanted to keep most of the sag, but I have had to lift the seat a touch to stop overstretching and to preserve the old straps.

Just finished the first stage of colour matching and antiquing the leather today, it should be finished tomorrow. I'll be putting up a blog post up tonight with more pictures of the process. (link in sig!)

Why is it that some jobs take much longer than you expect them to, is there a law somewhere I don't know about? I'll probably end up working for less than a fiver an hour on this one!

Seems to be something I am repairing 3 chairs now and have found hidden nails and epoxy in the joints. It takes more than twice the time it was supposed to
