Will pre ball courses be open to non members that are coming as my guests? They have attended in the past few years and may be keen to do some spoon carving.

My wife and I have made our plans to attend the AGM this year as part of our holiday.
Since we are coming from Across The Pond we will be looking for some local transportation, and to borrow a tent if possible.
We have lots of tents, from too-small-for two to portable-house size, but hauling them about with us for our holiday is not desirable.

Looking forward to meeting up with a lot of Bodgers in May!

Tickets for the Ball are on sale in the foyer (www.bodgers.org.uk) - right on the home page.
It's been live a couple of hours, and already some bloke from Canada has bought some!

Gavin will post the full Terms and Conditions on the ball site shortly. (i.e. I can't remember the answer, but I know we discussed it)

Kevin,
Courses are for members only.

I understand the Committee take the view the ball and its infrastructure can only happen from members' huge efforts ( thanks Tony and team!) and that therefor it is only members who should benefit. I guess otherwise there would be unfair subsidy to the non-members.

Of course, I want the tutors' courses to all sell out ( that keeps talent returning year after year) so you could argue that ANY one should be allowed. Against that I would say Ball is not really a public show - it is for members' and not public benefit. So you have to be a member to join a course. And Phill does check up on this. Also if you were an APTGW member - you'd be p-eed off if non-members had beaten you to the last place on a sold-out course.

Hi all
My wife & I are going to the Ball this year as part of our holidays. Since we are coming from Canada and the Ball is just the first stop on our trip, we don't want to drag a tent all over the place with us. Is there anyone who can loan us a tent at the BB?

Gavin, Phill,
Apologies, I haven't looked up the ask and answer forum for a long time. Tony gave me the answer on the pre ball courses which is the same as your answer Gavin. My guests became members.

Darrell,
I am happy to hear you and your wife and attending the ball again. Are you bringing a pair of FAST shoes for racing?
I don't think I have a tent other than my own that is complete and fully resists water. It will be the 6th May before I get to check and I'll be packing that weekend. Re post your request and see if some kind soul can help.

Yes, we are still hoping someone can loan us a tent at the Bodgers Ball.

It's not as if I don't have tents, heavens no, we have um, wow, now that I think about it, probably have 8 of them, from a huge pavillion down to a two-man tent, but it's not something we want to drag around with us on our holiday. The Ball is only the first weekend, and we are off doing the tourist thing from there.

So, can anyone loan us a tent for the Ball?

Darrell,
I am packed now for the ferry. I don't have a spare sound tent I am afraid. Only my own.

Thank you for thinking of us Kevin. We have someone offering a tent so we should be ok.
We are not done packing yet, the pile of gear is phenomenal. I may have sacrifice something to fit my tools and tankard into the luggage. We will see you st the Ball!

I threw some pictures on the APTGW Gallery page at
https://www.bodgers.org.uk/gallery/main ... emId=12041

The Ball was awesome, we had a great time there.
Met some new friends, connected with some old ones.
Learned some new skills, practiced some old ones.
