Wooplaw Greenwood Weekend May 25th and 26th, 2013

Postby Bob_Fleet » Tue Mar 05, 2013 9:45 pm

It's that time of year again.
Wooplaw greenwood weekend is looming on the horizon already.
Everyone has fun either using/making/playing at greenwood working.

No costs unless you make your own shaving horse (£40) or polelathe (£60) and take it away with you.
We'll supply the tools and materials and expertise.
Learn to use the working ones or just sit and carve a spoon.
This must be about the 10th year we've done this so there are lathes all over the place now.
We even made them at the BB at Doncaster and last year went as far north as you can and made them at Dunnet woodland.

Cleave some shingles and make a spatula or butter spreader or even a whimmy diddle.

Free camping and a covered BBQ.
Try your bushcraft skills and a bit of foraging too.

A great informal weekend to network with other greenwood workers too.

See you there

I'm missing out this weekend with the BB way down south.
Hope you all have a great time and take loads of pics.

However, not just sitting here but we got up to Wooplaw today and cut the beds for pole lathes and shaving horses for our weekend in a fortnight.
We're also going to make a saw horse for the log bucking and nail driving at the Tweed Valley Forest Festival later in the year over the same weekend.

An hour and a half north of Newcastle or Carlisle, yes there is greenwood north of the border.

A great free camping weekend and if you want to make a lathe or horse then Dave Hall can take orders at greenwood@wooplaw.org.uk.
(very reasonable charge if your making and taking one)
Check out our WEBPAGE

See you there if you've recovered from the BB by then.
