Hi- 1st post so bear with me!
I am making a start in this type of woodwork by making a very simple bench/stool. Basically a split log with legs. I intend to make this in the woods so with minimal gear. I was intending the legs to be pushed into holes which go right through then possibly wedged. - although blind holes might last longer.
My question is how do I drill the holes?? - I could easily use a cordless drill or a brace and bit - but how would this have been done originally in the field as it were? Would a brace and bit have been part of the basic bodger's field kit?
Thanks.
Richard
