Free ash available London, Highgate Cemetery

Postby Nunhead Tim » Tue Apr 29, 2014 9:16 pm

I went on a tour of Highgate Cemetery last week and spoke to the chairman about whether he had had any approaches from green woodworking groups. It is a heavily-wooded Victorian Cemetery and they have a lot of ash, as well as other species, but they regularly fell ash and would be happy to give the wood away. There were logs from six inches to over a foot diameter, quite fresh. They were also intrigued by the idea of green woodworking going on there - I think they are interested in new attractions as they have to pay for the upkeep of the cemetery. So if anyone is interested, you might like to contact Friends of Highgate Cemetery.

Best of luck!
