Deep Hole Boring

Postby JosMorn » Mon Dec 05, 2005 2:56 am

Hello there! So my question would be regarding using a pole lathe in boring a deep hole the length of the work, or at least the greater part of the length. Are there any suggestions for, say, a hollow "tail stock" or such?

Thanks

Check out The Woodwrights Eclectic Workshop by Roy Underhill. Pages 213-226 is all about making flutes and recorders. He has made a hollow centre using plumbing parts !

Sir and all that care to read this.

The recommendation to pick up Roy Underhill's book is indeed sound advice. It arrived today, and I see that he utilizes the ideas that I had reached, but illustrates them so that they are much more user friendly! Thank you!
