adze handle

Postby anobium » Tue Jan 23, 2018 9:16 am

In a 'vide grenier' I bought an adze head (for €5) and want to make a new handle. A straight handle is easy but does the curved type have any advantages?
If so, where can I obtain a template?

The traditional English adze handle is S shaped = just find an image on line and scale it up. French and may other European one have a round eye, and are fitted with a straight handle...

The curved type has the advantage that it is easier to find a piece of greenwood roughly the right shape. Straight is only easy if you can find a straight tree.
