The purpose of this, the official Association of Polelathe Turners & Greenwood Workers web site, is to promote green woodworking and all its associated crafts so that once again the woodlands of the world are nurtured and valued as a source of employment and enjoyment. The Association of Polelathe Turners and Greenwood Workers was created in 1990 by a group of a dozen like minded individuals who wanted to rescue the art of polelathe turning and greenwood working from obscurity. The organisation has a global membership of over 500. Printable Joining Leaflet At present we don't have an online joining facility due to the rules surrounding our server hosting, however we are looking at setting up a paypal account. Local groups meet informally and can regularly be found in several places. Some have their own news pages on this site. If you are looking for bodgers local to you try posting a request on the Ask and Answer bulletin board. Or take a look at the list of local Local Groups. The Ask and Answer bulletin board is a goldmine of information about greenwood working with experts from around the world contributing excellent answers to questions posed and loads more besides. |

Mastercrafts on BBC 2 (press release from BBC)
Monty Don presents Mastercrafts, celebrating six of the traditional crafts that helped build the nation and its heritage, ranging from thatching to stonemasonry.
A huge fan of traditional crafts, Monty keeps a watchful eye on three hopefuls who are passionate about learning these trades. They are put through their paces by the country's leading practitioners of wood craft, metal work, thatching, stone masonry, weaving and stained glass. After six weeks of training and hard labour, their work and achievements are judged by experts in their field to see who has best mastered the craft.
