Make a Chair from a Tree: An Introduction to Working in Green Wood.

This American book uses native American timbers but the knowledge and understanding imparted by the author are of exceptional quality. The technical description copiously illustated with photographs and drawings leave no doubt as to what is meant. While this does not cover the use of a pole lathe it does cover a lot complementary skills required for successful chair production. For those of you wanting to know the whys and wherefores of chair making in green wood this is definitely one for the workshop.

Author, John D. Alexander, Jr. Publisher, The Astragal Press. ISBN 1-879335-54-9
