Is there any syllabus or structure or curriculum of greenwood activities? So that a beginner would go thru a progressive series of steps. E.g. Starting with log selection, cross-cutting, splitting , cleaving, drawknifing, then turning on pole-lathe, or assembling a stool. I'd also like spoon and bowl-carving, and tool-sharpening included.

Hi Gavin,

I teach woodwork from ages 7-16yrs and the 16yr olds have recently finished a greenwood chair making course through OCN.
Open College Network. They all achieved a level 2 qualification which the ocn folk reckon is a GCSE level.
The chairs made were using the instructions from Mike Abbotts book going with the grain, the wee-wor rocking chair, except we didn't do the rockers.
I would be happy to send you some paperwork of the course if you like and you can have a read through it.
The children all had to keep a diary/portfolio of their work with photos describing the process of making their chairs from log to chair.
I've tried to upload some pictures of my son making his chair but the files are too big - have to find out how to reduce file size.

In explorer or similar right click it and say you want to e-mail the picture.
It asks you full size or reduced.
Choose reduced. The resultant e-mail has the pic attached with reduced file size - save it somewhere etc...
There is a thread somewhere showing how to reduce file sizes for pics if you search.

Thanks Bob,
I've tried reducing photos but files still to big. Have changed settings on camera and taken new pictures from my sons portfolio, hopefully this will work.
