Bowl Appreciation - New Wooden Bowls

I thought it might be worth having a thread on new bowls, to complement the existing thread on old bowls: Bowl Appreciation - Old wooden bowls. I suggest we use it to draw attention to interesting or unusual new or modern/contemporary bowls that we might come across.

I often visit US bowl carver David Fisher's website: http://davidffisher.com/ , his videos feature some amazing and varied bowls (& occasionally spoons) and he often lists recent work here: http://davidffisher.com/available_for_purchase and his gallery is here: http://davidffisher.com/gallery . [I am re-assured to see that he is currently carving a rectangular cherry bowl which has a design remarkably similar to my latest oak bowl - it's a classic Scandinavian form - but which will no doubt be rather more refined than mine when finished :D.]

There is another US bowl maker, who I believe is a full-time professional bowl-maker - although apparently specializing in dough bowls (antique dough bowls in America are what first got me interested in bowls, so I have a soft spot for them): http://doughbowlmaker.com/

I saw an single elaborately carved bowl in an art exhibition in Grasmere, while visiting the Lake District this Summer (The Lake Artists Society 2013 exhibition - the standard of work exhibited was high). The degree of craftsmanship, in the decorative carving, was, I think, exceptional:

The bowl has extensive decorative carving - in the traditional "Green Man"-style - on both the top and bottom and was exhibited above mirrors, so that you could see both the top and underneath the piece.

The artist/carver also carved several other pieces, mainly large, characterful animal sculptures rather than static/photo-realistic (and also painted some of the pictures exhibited too, I am told - artist/craftsman).

Sean Hellman's striking "polar bear bowl" caught my eye & has stuck in my mind:

I haven't seen a bowl like this before - but perhaps it is based on something that has gone before (something Inuit/Eskimo/Sami - a small oil/fat/blubber lamp - kudlik / qulliq - perhaps?).

I can picture it piled high with something - Turkish Delight perhaps...

or at an Ambassador's soiree, where there are "Ferrero Rocher as far as the eye can see" (to quote Phill Jupitus): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCF5Z-m1c0I :)
