The Million Dollar Question Gouge Or Knife

Postby Richtea71 » Thu Nov 09, 2017 2:51 pm

Hi All well I’ve got a big question
Well it’s getting to Christmas list writing time and I really can’t make my mind up If To ask Santa for :
Hans Karlsson MiniGouge’s http://woodsmithexperience.co.uk/shop/product/hans-karlsson-minigouge-15mm/ or Robin Wood spoon knife http://wood-tools.co.uk/tools/spoon-knife-right-hand-compound-curve/ or Ben Orford’s hybrid med Crook http://benandloisorford.com/store/#!/Medium-Hybrid-Crook-Knife/p/34599479. these will all be used for spoon and small bowl carving.

I do look forward to reading your opinions and ideas, Cheers all

As you add to your tool set, you are either extending your comfort zone practices or branching out into other techniques.

I would rate this one (well I would wouldn't I?) http://nicwestermann.co.uk/shop/greenwood-carving-blades/fawcett-blade/. Bit cheaper but you have to put your own handle on it - which isn't a bad thing, you can make it to fit YOUR hand
