That does look nice. I tried a couple of unusual side-axes a country show recently: priced around £36 each, neither was in great condition but the price was probably negotiable. The seller wasn't sure of their origin ("European, probably Bulgarian or French"). The larger more ornate, "goose-wing" one reminded me of several I've seen sold out of Austria of Bulgarian origin but felt pretty "ornary" in the hand. The smaller, plainer looking one struck me as probably French, felt very natural and good in my hand.
BTW The seller was v. nice, grew up nearby and is an antique tool dealer with a small store. Might be a useful contact for Billman & Witt - she has a lot of billhooks

. She also had a very interesting/unusual looking small, old froe (the first I've seen in this area), the forge-weld looked weak to my untrained eye otherwise I might have been interested (I have a tendency to break things).
