Lovely stuff nic. Love the lines in that bowl. Which of your beautiful tools did you use to make that?

Hi Peat,
This is a fair bit smaller than your poplar bowl - maybe 12" across. Outside is cut pretty closely with an axe and finished with a knife. Inside is roughed with an adze and finished with a twca cam of the same curve in this case 50mm diameter. If I get my act together I should have a few adzes finished by Christmas ( originally I was saying October!)

Nic, nice bowl!
For a "show" piece from my perspective the bark adds to the bowl.
Have been looking at the free form bowls at Drew Langsner's site for some inspiration. Adding your bowl to my collection of ideas. Thanks for sharing.

Hi,
Neat work, what wood did you use for the bowl?

Its a different one from the one on your website? It is a great idea for a bowl shape. Really carries the impression that it has been carved by hand with an adze. I've been lusting after some of your tools and it felt strange to be ordering from you and not buying any tools, but its christmas and I couldn't afford both (I bought the willow and cherry leaves).
Cheers, they look great!

It isn't the one on my website, this is the fourth I have made. They get quicker but not really better, don't think you can really repeat this sort of work over and over. Hope the leaves go down well, am still adding new tools to my site. Axes and Adzes will be up in the New Year and after that It has been pointed out that draw knives are another obvious gap that needs filling.

Hi Nic,
Did not see your answer before. Thanks. I'll try to check for some spalted birch.
