Addington wood fair

Short notice, but here goes

Croydon Youth Forest Project are going to be hosting a ‘Woodfest’ in New Addington on Saturday 4th August, in New Addington, Croydon from 11am - 4pm.  We are offering a free pitch as long as you are prepared to demonstrate some aspect of your work and get involved with the public!

The event is being organised by the young people from the HLF funded ‘Addo Forest Project’ as part of the year long project they have been involved in with us.  This event is going to be the culmination of all the learning, fun and indeed hard work they have put in.  We also want the event to promote work in the outdoors to young people from the area.

The young people will be showcasing some of the forestry skills and bushcraft skills they have learned, sharing a piece of performance art that they will have written themselves and presenting art work and various other woodland artefacts which they have created throughout the year.  There will also be a chance to watch the film they have made of their many and varied exploits over the past year.

You will need to provide all your own materials, display boards and a table, and a pop up gazebo is always advisable in August in the UK! We will provide you with the space!  It would also be wonderful (but not essential!) if you could provide some kind of simple activity for people to take part in (particularly young people) on your stall, to add to the busy and exciting atmosphere. Their involvement in the activity will be dependent on whether you have the appropriate public liability insurance, as unfortunately we cannot accept liability for any activities you offer to the public at this event.

There will be toilets and some form of catering provided where it will be possible to buy hot food.

The field is accessible via an access track, and you can drop off your equipment and park in Mickleham Way, New Addington or elsewhere locally.  There may also be parking for a vehicle behind each stall (or if your stall IS a vehicle) then just to highlight that there is NO HARD STANDING for vehicles, it is just an uneven turfed field!

If you would like to have a stall, please get in touch with Suzy Strudwick on suzy.strudwick@croydon.gov.uk or 07771 843 064.
