We now need to find a local South Oxfordshire / Berkshire person capable of handling, manouvering and positioning large larch timbers ready for conversion by hewing and rip sawing. To see the timbers involved check out the post made by Chilterns on 24 Oct 2013 at :-

Hi Gavin,

Thanks for the heads up re Barbara and I have been in contact with her but it appears that she is a very busy girl and is currently remote from Oxfordshire.

We are, wherever possible, endeavouring to provide local (Berks, Oxon, Bucks, N. Hants.) opportunities to persons aspiring to work in woodlands so that we can build a network of people capable of undertaking woodland based building projects. These days young people often bemoan the lack of job opportunities and career development paths available to them. I am trying to help this situation along but with no apparent interest.

The woodland cruck barn projectis now well underway and The Oxfordshire Woodland Group is very much indebted to Mark Griffin - an Oxfordshire Chair bodger for services provided to the project.

The Bodger's skill set is prooving to be invaluable when dealing with scribing and fitting the large irregular timbers employed in cruck framing.
