Welsh Stick Chairs & Windsor Chairs

Postby ToneWood » Wed May 09, 2012 10:05 pm

This is a potentially big topic but I come across these chairs from time-to-time. Two related things caught my attention in the last week:

I just came across this book on Welsh Stick Chairs on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0854 ... 0854420835

It caught my eye because I assumed that sort of chair is called a Windsor chair.

The other thing I saw last week was a miniature chair like the one shown on the cover of the book above. It looked like a dolls seat, perhaps 18" high, the design was like a Windsor chair except the wood was just round (a bit like the Welsh chairs above) rather than decoratively turned. The quality looked adequate but nothing fancy. It didn't look particularly old but I wondered if it might be something that might interest a chair-maker?
