sourcing materials

Postby microgreen » Thu Oct 06, 2016 7:53 pm

Hi !

I,m new to this craft ( a bit too late in life - I'm 72 summers old) and I'm hooked !

My problem is - How do I get small amounts of greenwood? I live in the Holderness part of the East Riding of Yorkshire(God's own country)-It's not known for woodlands :(

Do any members know of a source of material in this area ?

Hi Tony and welcome!
You could try talking to a local tree surgeon. They are usually glad of somewhere to lose a few rounds or branches. I can't offer any more help than that I'm afraid. Good luck!

Must be some firewood merchants in E. Yorkshire surely?

I get a lot of my stuff from conservation volunteering. We are just getting into the hedgelaying and scrub clearance season and the local Wildlife Trust is happy for me to take as much as I can carry home.
