US Bodger's Ball and Greenwood Gathering

June 28-30 LaFarge Municipal Park , LaFarge Wisconsin USA

This 2.5 day event will bring bodgers and other greenwood artists together to share their skills, experiences, and passion for woodworking on shave horses and pole lathes.  Whether you're a beginner or expert woodworker, or, if you just want to expand your knowledge of green woodworking, this gathering is for you. You will enjoy a leisurely weekend with fellow woodworking enthusiasts as they share their projects, lessons they've learned, and ideas for creating heirloom-quality art. Bring your projects, photos, ideas, and questions.

Additional woodworking classes taught by professional bodgers and greenwood experts (including Fred Livesay) will be available at an added cost.  (Watch the

Driftless Folk School website for further information as it becomes available.)

Coffee and pastries will be provided each morning, lunch is on your own (available at event for $8),  and potluck dinner will be shared on Saturday evening.

Glad to see the new Forum up and running. Will post more info as available.

The event was lots of fun. For a first event we had over 50 people attend. Pole lathes, shaving horses, steam bending, carving and blacksmithing all on a warm weekend. Great people and a very nice Pot luck dinner.

Same weekend next year.

Here is a link to photos of the event.

It will only get bigger from here,

  • NCFed, who may be familiar to many of you, are having their annual gathering on the weekend of 12/13th October this year at Rowden Paddocks, Bromyard, Herefordshire, HR7 4LS, home of Nozstock, the Hidden Valley music festival apparently. It's not on anywhere near the same scale as the Bodgers Ball but a similar ethos of skill-sharing amongst like-minded people. The event can be completely catered for the two days if you wish and, importantly, there will be a bar. Arrivals from 3p.m. Friday. See the attachment below. Further information will be available shortly on the website ncfed.org.uk - it's not there yet
  • Just to confirm that the 2020 ball will be on the following dates: Pre-ball courses Thurs 7th and Fri 8th May 2020 Ball Sat 9th and Sun 10th May 2020
