OK I’m enjoying the whole relaxed, even languid, process of making a spoon. Except for sanding.
I do what I can whilst green, then put it in an open plastic bag with a spray of water and leave it for a week or so. I’m thinking this lets it dry out a bit, slowly, and becoime harder and easier to sand.
Then I start the laborious process of rubbing sandpaper on the spoon. Hundreds of bits of fragmented paper. Cramp in various muscles. Hours of trying to reduce natures efforts combined with my awkward notch-based carving to a surface that will not rip lips!
I know I need to improve my carving to produce a smooth surface that doesnt need sanding. But what am I missing (without buying a Dremel) to sand all the nooks and crannies more easily (and quicker?)
