Service Description

Using the same simple knife and skills as for spoon carving, a tree spirit or Vaettir (old Norse) can be carved from a green branch or log. Using a series of simple knife cuts this can be achieved. There is plenty of scope for creativity; so bring your own ideas and imagination with you. Everyone should complete a tree spirit during the session. This half-day course is ideal for experienced spoon carvers who are looking to expand their range of carving projects, but can also cater for beginners willing to take a lot of care in learning to use sharp knives. Knives and fresh lime wood are provided, although you’re welcome to use your own if you prefer (small knives such as mora 120 are ideal. Enjoy this creative craft, coached by an experienced artisan tutor, and take the fruits of your labour home with you! Suitable for beginners/intermediates


Booking Policy

Thank you for booking onto your course. Please read the following notes carefully before arrival. 1. Please take time to familiarise yourself with the site, where you need to be for your course, and where the toilets & refreshments are well in advance of your course (there will be no course reception desk in the main marquee this year but there will be a BB HQ to the right of it should you need assistance) 2. Access into spaces will be from 9 am on the morning of your course, please do not come any earlier as tutors will be setting up 3. At the end of your course please depart in a timely fashion to allow for turnarounds. If you are fit & able & willing to do so please stay to help it would be very much appreciated 4. Free tea/coffee is situated at the bottom of the quiet marquee please help yourself at break times 5. Please do not disturb other courses or encroach on other spaces 6. Your tutor will explain to you the photography policy. Please adhere to this 7. Please make sure you come dressed for the occasion. Some of the courses are in marquees some in individual shelters. Have warm/waterproof clothing where applicable. For most of the courses, you need to ensure you have covered shoes & long trousers. Please refer to your individual courses for more info 8. Where you are asked to bring your own tools please ensure they are sharp & fit for purpose 9. All courses are for 18+. Should you be bringing a young person with you, who wishes to do a course please get in touch with courses@bodgers.org.uk before booking to discuss individual needs/ age so we can assist finding a suitable course where possible. 10. Please adhere to any specific health & safety request from your tutor on the day/beforehand 11. It is your responsibility to book onto a course which is appropriate for your level or physical capability there will be no option for a refund if you find it is not suited to your needs 12. Your tutor will request your emergency contacts at the start of the course- please ensure you have these handy 13. Please report & health & safety issues or first aid needs directly to your tutor as the first point of contact 14. Please note course tickets are non-refundable
