Accessibility & Inclusivity Guide

The APT&GW are passionate about green woodwork and dedicated to creating a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable AGM event for everyone.

We recognise that our membership have diverse needs and abilities. This guide outlines the facilities and supports we provide to help you plan your weekend, alongside the practical realities of our volunteer-run event.

Planning Your Visit: Communication is Key

To ensure we can help meet your needs, please contact us at membership@bodgers.org.uk well in advance of the event. We are a small volunteer team and our ability to arrange support depends on prior notice. We will always try to find a practical, workable solution within our resources.

Event Site & Facilities
  • Terrain: The event site is set in a natural, semi-rural environment. The ground in the camping area and some workshop areas is uneven and may be challenging for those with limited mobility, especially in wet weather.

  • Accessible Parking: Designated parking close to the main event area is available. Please contact us in advance if you are a blue badge holder as you will be given priority for parking.

  • Accessible Toilets: We provide accessible toilet facilities at key locations across the site. These are clearly marked on the event map.

Accommodation & Camping
  • Self-Reliance: Our camping field is offered as a basic, DIY space. We are unable to provide assistance with erecting personal camping equipment.  Hot water for tea and coffee is always available between 8am and 10pm.

  • Choosing What's Right For You: We strongly encourage all attendees to consider their own needs when selecting accommodation. If you require comfort, flat access, or facilities, we recommend booking off-site lodging. The area has many options for local B&Bs, hotels, and AirBNBs.

Support for Attendees with Access Requirements
  • Personal Assistant Tickets: We offer one complimentary ticket for a necessary personal assistant/support companion. This ticket is provided on the understanding that the assistant is present to aid the attendee and cannot be used to book a separate, paid workshop/course place. They may, however, assist the attendee within a jointly attended course. Please contact us to arrange this.

  • Quiet Space: A designated low-stimulus quiet area will be available on-site for anyone needing a peaceful retreat from the event activity.

Fostering an Inclusive Community

The annual APT&GW Bodgers Ball AGM is for anyone with an interest in greenwood craft, from all walks of life. Our community is built on a shared passion for making and a spirit of mutual respect. We ask all attendees to be mindful and respectful of each other's space and experience. We believe a diverse gathering enriches us all, and we warmly welcome newcomers who are helping to shape the future of our craft. Our crew is committed to ensuring a friendly and harassment-free environment for everyone.

By letting us know your needs in advance, you help us help you. By understanding the self-reliant nature of our camping and the layout of our site, you can plan for a comfortable Bodgers Ball experience.
